Guadalupe Carrillo, PhD
As the Assistant Dean for Access, Belonging & Community at the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, Dr. Lupe Carrillo leads the office that oversees recruitment, student professional and leadership development, and community-building initiatives for the entire Doerr school’s students, staff, and faculty. She also implements National Science Foundation supported programs to build a broad talent pipeline into the field of sustainability, such as the NSF-SURGE undergraduate research program and the Dean’s Postdoctoral Fellowship. She has co-written a book chapter for Springer Nature on creating teaching partnerships with community colleges and public and state universities, and has implemented and executed the school’s first-ever recruitment and inclusion 3-year strategic plan, which helped embed the values of access into the foundation of Stanford’s newest school. Lupe holds a B.A. in English and Political Science from UC Berkeley and a PhD in English from Stanford University and has taught classes on 20th and 21st century American literature at De Anza College and Stanford.
